The Manito and Cannon Hill area sits high on the South Hill, wrapped around Manito Park and the gardens that give the neighborhood its name. Much of what we clean here was built in the early 1900s: Craftsman bungalows, brick Tudors, and four-square homes set back under mature trees on streets that have looked much the same for a century. These are houses with original woodwork, plaster walls, leaded glass, and tile that predates anything you can buy today. They reward a crew that knows how to clean older finishes without stripping or scratching them, and that is the work we have done up here since 2002.

Spokane realities show up differently in homes this age. Hard water leaves scale on the original chrome and on the glass in older baths, so we treat for it every visit instead of wiping around it. Forced-air systems retrofitted into early-1900s houses pull fine dust through every register and settle it into wide baseboards, picture rails, and the carved detail that newer homes simply do not have. From roughly June through October, wildfire smoke drifts in and films sills, sashes, and the tops of trim with a gritty haze, so we add window-track and ledge passes through the smoke season. Winter brings mud and snowmelt up the front walks and into entryways, and the South Hill grade means that grit gets tracked further into the house than most owners expect.

The people here tend to stay. Many of these homes have had the same owners for years, and a clean built around the house people actually live in matters more than one staged for a listing. We clean for the wear that real life leaves: cooking residue along kitchen cabinet undersides, dust in the corners of high-ceilinged rooms, and the soft buildup that collects on aged hardwood and stone. When a Manito or Cannon Hill home does change hands, the move-in and move-out cleans are timed to closing and we hold the buyer or seller walk-through as the bar. If a house does not pass it, we come back the same week.
