Meet the founder

In their own words.

We're both Spokane natives (Joe grew up on the South Hill, Katie out in the Valley), so building a company anywhere else never crossed our minds. Before Frontline, we both spent many years in the hospitality industry, where we saw the same problem from the inside: turnover so high that customers met a new stranger every visit, and big-company rules that treated every home exactly the same. We knew Spokane wanted something more personal. So in 2002 we started Frontline on our own terms: the same trusted people, every time, treating each house like it was family's.

The whole company runs on one question: what would we want if it were our house? That's why we built Frontline around long-running recurring routes: the same cleaner comes back week after week, learns your home and your quirks, and you two stop being strangers. It drives how we hire: we move slowly, we run full background checks, and the real test is whether we'd leave that person alone in Katie's mother's house. If the answer's no, we wait. We quote honest flat rates with no surprise upsells, because nobody likes a moving target on price. And when something's not right, we don't debate it: we're back within 24 hours to redo it. A route you keep beats a job you defend.

“I'd rather have two hundred homes where the cleaner knows the dog by name than a thousand one-time jobs. We've cleaned some of these houses for fifteen years straight: that's not luck, that's the whole point.”
Joe Redington, co-founder

Twenty-plus years in, Spokane has given us a lot, and we try to give it back. Most of that goes to Vanessa Behan, a 24-hour crisis nursery and safe haven here in Spokane that provides temporary emergency childcare, crisis counseling, and parent education for families facing overwhelming situations. We also sponsor various community events, and every winter we donate cleaning hours to a few families going through a hard stretch. None of it is for show. When the city is also your home, looking after it is just part of the job.

Today Frontline Housekeeping Plus is still locally owned and still run by the two people who started it, cleaning many of the same Spokane homes it did at the beginning. That continuity is the promise. Looking ahead, none of it changes: the same trusted faces, the same Spokane ownership, the same standard we'd want in our own home.
