House cleaning in the Garland District .

The Garland District is one of north Spokane's oldest residential neighborhoods, built up around the historic Garland business strip. Most of what we clean here dates to the 1920s through the 1940s: brick and stucco bungalows, story-and-a-half Tudors, and the occasional foursquare. These are homes with real character, and that character comes with cleaning realities a newer house never has. Original wood floors, plaster walls, painted woodwork, push-button switches, and tile that has been in place for eighty years all ask for a lighter, more deliberate touch than a builder-grade interior.

The people who live here tend to value that history and want it kept up, not scrubbed away. We clean around it: pH-neutral products on aged finishes, soft cloths on original hardware, and care near plaster and trim that does not forgive a heavy hand. Spokane's environment adds its own work. Forced-air furnaces, common in these older houses, pull fine dust through the registers and settle it on picture rails and high trim. Hard water leaves scale fast on the dated chrome and tile you find in a 1930s bathroom. From roughly June through October, wildfire smoke drifts in and leaves a gritty film on sills and surfaces, and in winter the snowmelt and street mud track straight onto entry floors. We clean for all of it.

The Garland District is also a steady move-in and move-out market for us. These houses change hands often as buyers chase the older, walkable blocks, and rentals turn over between tenants. An empty vintage house deep clean is its own job: decades of dust behind radiators, inside original cabinets, and along baseboards that have been painted more than once. The buyer or landlord walk-through is the bar we clean to, and if a house does not pass it, we come back the same week.
