Rocky Hill and Legacy Ridge climb the south slope above Liberty Lake, where the lots get bigger and the homes get newer the higher you go. Then there is the weather, which the hilltop feels more than the lower neighborhoods. Liberty Lake water is hard, so scale builds fast on the glass shower doors and the chrome and stainless these homes are full of. Wildfire smoke settles into the valley most summers from roughly June through October, and the fine ash works its way past weatherstripping and onto every flat surface. Winter brings mud on the long driveways and grit tracked in from the slope, and the forced-air systems most of these houses run pull all of that fine dust back through the registers. We treat for the hard water on every visit instead of wiping around it, add HEPA-filter passes through smoke season, and keep the registers and baseboards on the standard checklist so the dust does not just move around.
